10 days and the Premier League will be back, but the Blues will be back in action in 12 days.

However, Chelsea right-back Reece James has pulled out of the England U21 squad after being selected for Euro U21 qualifiers against Kosovo and Austria.

The 20-year-old suffered an injury in training and has been pulled out of the squad, being replaced by former Blues Academy player Tariq Lamptey.

With Cesar Azpilicueta yet to be fully fit, Lampard will be hoping James recovers on time ahead of our Premier League opener against Brighton on September 14.

It’s understood that it is not a serious issue, although there isn’t any specific information on it.

The Blues suffered another set-back in the friendly against Brighton, with Hakim Ziyech going off injured with a ‘small twist’, in his knee.

Three Chelsea players, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Conor Gallagher and Marc Guehi (who is on loan at Swansea) remain in the squad for the games on Friday and Tuesday.
