‘I have to place Mendy that way! Rio Ferdinand finally reveals the three best goalkeepers in the world
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, has also reserved praise for Mendy, saying that the Chelsea goalie has been ‘impeccable’ over the past year.
However, Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has added another trophy to his collection, as the Senegal international played a key role in helping his country win the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
After helping Senegal beat Egypt in the final on Sunday, Mendy was named as the best goalkeeper in the tournament — adding another individual honour to his collection, having also been named as the Goalkeeper of the Year by FIFA.
Meanwhile, United Legend Rio Ferdinand also admitted that Mendy is currently the best goalkeeper in the world, along with Manchester City’s Ederson and Manchester United’s David de Gea.
Speaking on the FIVE YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: “If I was picking a goalkeeper right now in the world, I think my top three keepers would be – and maybe people say you’re biased because of the Premier League – but it would be Mendy, Ederson, and on form right now De Gea.
“Mendy stands out for me, especially in this last year, he’s been impeccable.”
