‘I think over his mentality’ – Rodgers reacted after his player reveals love for playing for Chelsea
Recent reports claims that Leicester City star Wesley Fofana has made it clear he would be interested in joining Chelsea.
The 20-year-old defender joined Leicester on a five-year contract from Saint-Etienne for £36.5million in September last year.
According to Fofana, moving to a club like Chelsea will be a dream come true for him.
“I have been a Marseille fan since I was born,” Fofana said when discussing dream moves.
“Marseille, it is a dream. We don’t know what is waiting for us in football.
“There is Marseille, Real Madrid, Barcelona. In the Premier League, Chelsea, Man United, Man City… but you have to work to achieve your dreams. Through work, you can succeed in it all.”
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s game against Leicester City, Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers had said that the rumours surrounding Fofana are just media speculations and also his No.1 goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, who has recently said he would be open to a move ‘elsewhere.’
“I think speculation and gossip is natural and supporters will have seen that increase,” Rodgers said in his press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash.
“The players you’re talking about, Kasper has been such a great servant for the club, he’s been sensational for the club. I’ve not got any question marks over his mentality.
“I’ve not seen either of the interviews. Wesley has made great strides. Every player will want to be at the highest level, but it doesn’t mean they’re thinking about leaving here to do that.
“We’ve won silverware and want to see if we can win more. Wesley is committed to here and we can’t wait to have him back. Kasper is committed here.”
