‘I think we will speak in the next few weeks’ — Dortmund chief sends Erling Haaland transfer message to Chelsea

Haaland has established himself as one of the best forwards in the world, having scored a remarkable 74 goals in 72 matches for Dortmund.

However, Borussia Dortmund chief, Hans-Joachim Watzke, has said the club will hold discussions with Erling Haaland in the coming weeks, as they look to sort out his future.

His eye-catching performances have made him a hot commodity in the football transfer market, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain all queuing up for his services.

Dortmund managed to ward off interest from some of Europe’s top teams for Haaland last summer, and even though the club know it may be difficult to keep him for another year, Watzke says talks will be held to discuss the matter soon, with the ultimate decision will be left for the striker.

“I think we will speak in the next few weeks. He told Amazon Prime.

“We are not alone in control of this. We are a bit dependent on signals coming from him and his advisor.

“We have no pressure to negotiate because we don’t necessarily have to extend the contract.”

Watzke also commented on Haaland’s £63 million release clause, adding, “The question is: does he trigger the clause or does he not?

“But we will try not to find out until March or April.”
