“I was not happy with him, I didn’t like his body language” – Tuchel reveals after humiliating Chelsea star in Southampton draw
Callum Hudson-Odoi had quite the afternoon today.
He started on the bench, and it looked like he was being put in cotton wool for the Atletico Madrid game on Tuesday night in the Champions League.
He got thrown on at half time to add some attacking dynamism to a flaccid team, but after half an hour of giving it a go, Thomas Tuchel had hauled him off again.
It was such a surprising move that many wondered if there was an injury we didn’t know about. But after the game Tuchel admitted it was just the winger’s performance he hadn’t liked.
“I was not happy with his body language and his attitude in counter pressing,” Tuchel explained to the media after full time.
“He didn’t give us what we needed.”
The manager went on to say tomorrow is a new day, and that Callum could still play against Atletico. It’s a huge gamble to try and get the best out of CHO, we’ll see if it pays off.
Thomas Tuchel on subbing off Hudson-Odoi:
“I was not happy with his body language and his attitude in counter pressing. He didn’t give us what we needed.”
