Hernan Crespo was one of the top strikers in the world during his hay days, as the Argentine legend lit up the Serie A.
The former Argentina international was a Chelsea player for five years, but he barely spent two seasons at the club as he didn’t adjust to life in the Premier League.
Crespo has revealed that he was enjoying his life at Inter Milan in the summer of 2003 and was surprised to find out that he has been sold to Chelsea, just after buying a house in Milan.
“They sold me to Chelsea without my knowing,” Crespo told Sky Italia. “I had bought a house in Milan 10 days before, I had another four years of contract and I was doing very well.
“[We’d got into the] Champions League semi-finals and the second place behind Juve in the league, and they tell me: ‘We sold you to Chelsea’.”
Crespo spent only the 2003-04 and 2005-06 seasons at Chelsea, before going out on loan spells to both Milan clubs until Inter signed him again permanently in 2008.
Crespo scored 25 goals in 73 games across all competitions for Chelsea, which was by far the least successful spell of the marksman’s stellar career.
