I will be devastated if I was in his position – Ian Wright slams FA rule for suspending Chelsea player
Crystal Palace will face Chelsea in the semi-final of the FA Cup next month, and the FA has ruled that Gallagher is ineligible to play against his parent club.
However, Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has been one of Crystal Palace’s best players this season. He has impressed on loan at Palace, and has been their main man in the middle of the park.
Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Ian Wright has kicked against that ruling, insisting that the Chelsea loanee should be able to play for his current club.
Wright said on his podcast Wrighty’s House: “If you’ve let a player go from the start of the season then yes he’s your player.”
“For Conor Gallagher to go to Palace and take them to the levels.
“He’s one of the main reasons they’re doing what they’re doing.
“He’s helped get them to a semi-final at Wembley which is what we all dream of as professionals and he can’t play because his parent club is there.
“There’s something not fair about that. I’d be devastated if I was in his position.”
