I will quit my job if Chelsea sign him – Club manager says on Chelsea top target

Chelsea have long admired Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, and the Blues have been linked with the Senegalese international once again this summer.

Even when Chelsea made a move for Koulibaly under Antonio Conte, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis insisted on not selling the Senegalese.

With new speculations tying the 30-year-old to Chelsea, Napoli manager Luciano Spaletti is thought to be opposed to Koulibaly leaving the club.

According to reports, Spaletti has threatened to resign as Napoli manager if Koulibaly is sold.

Koulibaly is an important player for Napoli, and the club’s manager does not want to lose him.

The 63-year-old has told the club of his intention to leave if Koulibaly is moved against his will, according to Corriere dello Sport and Spanish publication Sport.

However, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has already admitted that they cannot force the defender to stay.

He said: “He is a symbol of Napoli, and if he wants to no longer be a symbol, he must decide.

“We must decide. We want Koulibaly to stay, but people can’t be forced to stay.

“Everyone has their own dignity and needs. We respect everyone.”

It’s yet to be seen if Chelsea would make a transfer move for the 30-year-old Kalidou Koulibaly.

Meanwhile, former Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips, has questioned the club’s decision to sell Fikayo Tomori.

“Jules Kounde would be a good signing for Chelsea, he’s young and a very talented defender.

“But Chelsea sold Fikayo Tomori who’s a similar age and I think he barely gave the ball away all season at AC Milan and I just wonder why you would go and buy a player of a similar age, why not just keep the talent you’ve made?

“If Kounde does sign for Chelsea, he’ll have big boots to fill after Antonio Rudiger’s exit.”
