Incredible! Chelsea fans finally honour ‘underrated Chelsea hero Mikel Obi’
Super eagle legend and former Chelsea player Mikel Obi was a loyal servant for Chelsea and spent eleven trophy-laden years at Stamford Bridge, winning every club competition, bar the Club World Cup.
However, Chelsea fans have unveiled a John Obi Mikel banner at the Matthew Harding Stand in Stamford Bridge, the club’s home ground.
Mikel will fondly be remembered for his role in the 2012 Champions League victory. And he was especially massive as Chelsea fought for their lives in the final against Bayern Munich.
Mikel who joined Chelsea as a teenager in 2006, is seen by many as an underrated hero.
The banner has “Taking The Mikel” written boldly on it and is in recognition of the former Chelsea No. 12.
Very pleased to feature a couple of photos of the latest banner to adorn the Matthew Harding Stand
Supplied by my good pal Dash, it’s a tribute to @mikel_john_obi, a player who, in my opinion, is one of the most underrated in the modern era of @ChelseaFC@JohnTerry26 pic.twitter.com/7KXD4dMSWQ— cfcuk Fanzine (@onlyapound) April 1, 2022
