Is he starting tonight? Lampard provides ‘positive’ update on Antonio Rudiger
Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger is yet to feature for Chelsea this season, as Blues boss Frank Lampard has opted more for the more experienced Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma, with Andreas Christensen and even Fikayo Tomori seeing some minutes.
The German international has even been left out of the Chelsea squad for most games this season, but Frank Lampard was satisfied enough with Rudiger’s contribution in training last week to name him as a substitute in the goalless draw against Manchester United on Saturday.
And now, ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Krasnodar, Lampard has revealed that Rudiger is in contention to feature in this game.
“I have discussions with Antonio and all the players as readily as I can do,” said the Chelsea boss.
“I have always had a positive relationship with him. Everything I do, I do for the club and selections and the team, and at the minute sometimes you have to have players out of the squad and it is big news for everybody.
“I have a very positive relationship with him, and he’s in the squad and very much in contention to play.”
