‘It’s a big shame! Former Chelsea player blasts Jurgen Klopp latest comments
According to latest reports, Former Chelsea star Geremi Njitap has revealed he’s not happy with the statement made by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp had referred to the African Cup of Nations as a little tournament, and it hasn’t gone down well with Geremi.
Klopp said: “No international break until March, I’ve heard that so often, but in January there’s a little tournament in Africa, I just want to say.”
Although Klopp insisted that he didn’t mean it that way, Geremi who won the competition twice with Cameroon, was very displeased with what the German said.
Geremi wrote for the Daily Mail: “When Jurgen Klopp described the Africa Cup of Nations as a “little tournament” I was far from impressed.”
“A lot of fans from outside of Africa may not know but in my view, AFCON is the third most important football tournament on the planet and it means so much to anyone competing on this stage.
“I am unhappy about Klopp’s remarks, to say the least, and think it’s a big shame that the Liverpool manager has not respected the competition.”
