Jamie Carragher spotted how Manchester City robbed Chelsea to win the game “Chelsea deserves to win the game”

Jamie Carragher was not happy with the penalty Manchester City were awarded against Chelsea earlier today.

Manchester City were handed a spot kick after Marc Cucurella was penalised for pulling Erling Haaland down in the box, but Jamie Carragher, commentating on the game for Sky Sports (12/11/2023 at 16:52), thinks it was a bit harsh and that the VAR did not look at everything.

City’s lead did not last for long, though, with Thiago Silva managing to equalise from a corner

Next up for Chelsea is a trip to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle United after the international break.

Manchester City’s penalty harsh

It is fair to say that Carragher did not like the decision to award City a penalty in the first half of their clash with Chelsea.

Speaking live on Sky Sports, the Liverpool legend said: “No, this isn’t right. I’m looking at this back post. For me, it’s all about the back post. Cucurella, initially, he’s tight, he’s aggressive with Erling Haaland. No, this is not right, it’s not right. That’s not the right decision.

“The penalty’s been given. The VAR’s looked at it, but when the VAR looked at it and referred to Anthony Taylor to give a penalty, they were looking at the end of that tussle. You’ve got to look at the start of it.”
