Jorginho faced the wrath of Chelsea fans last season under former boss Maurizio Sarri, but has been a key part of Frank Lampard’s team, this term.
The Italy international has proven himself as one of the most influential squad members both on the pitch and in the dressing room.
Jorginho has now revealed how Lampard surprised him by speaking highly of him in public upon taking the managerial job at Stamford Bridge, which further helped his reputation among fans.
“He’s [Lampard’s] always spoken very highly of me since he returned to Stamford Bridge and we started working together,” the Italy international told FourFourTwo.
“Honestly, I thank him for the sincerity he showed towards me in public. He didn’t have to do that, and not every manager does it. He’s a legend inside the club, so people listen to what he says.
“From that day, I felt everyone began to look at me with different eyes and really pay attention to what I do; how much I’ve devoted myself to achieving the best I can.”
Jorginho has made 37 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring 7 goals and providing 2 assists.
