Jose Mourinho sends ‘Huge’ message to Frank Lampard after winning Manager of the Month award
Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho was eventually named the Barclays Manager of the Month for November, beating Frank Lampard, David Moyes and Olé Gunnar Solskjaer to the award.
Upon receiving the award, Mourinho gave credit to his entire staff.
“It says Manager of the Month but for me it is team of the month or staff of the month,” said Mourinho after receiving the award for a fourth time in his career. “This is about the players, the coaches, my assistant, the sport science guys, the analysts and lots of others.”
Lampard and Mourinho were the two favourites in the running for the award after an unbeaten run in November, but it was the Portuguese who was eventually given the award.
Mourinho hinted that he deserved the award, especially after a tough run of fixture and beating Manchester City in a disciplined manner.
“That win against Manchester City and the way we did it, with a performance that we as a staff consider a very complete one,” added Mourinho. “We were very good in every moment of the game.
“It was the first of three consecutive matches – Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal – where from a mental point, if you do not get victory in the first one it is probably going to affect your self-esteem and confidence for the next one.
“November as a month highlights the momentum, what we are and the reason why we are doing so well.” If Frank Lampard continues to lead Chelsea in such majestic form, he’d definitely receive the glory for next month.
