Jose Mourinho trolled Liverpool despite being sacked, Madrid lose player for Chelsea clash, as Courtois slams Chelsea
Six days before the League Cup final, Tottenham owner Daniel Levy made the strange decision to sack Jose Mourinho as Spurs boss. Tottenham would end up losing the game to Manchester City, as they were outplayed by the Premier League leaders. Surely, their wait for a trophy will take many more years.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho had proven that he’s still special by taking a dig at Liverpool, in wake of the 6th year anniversary of Steven Gerrard’s slip.
It was a game Liverpool had to win to keep hopes alive of winning the league, but Demba Ba capitalised on Gerrard’s mistake to help secure victory for Mourinho’s Chelsea at Anfield, which all but ended Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes in 2014.
A 2-0 victory in a classical Jose Mourinho style ensured a win for the Blues, with Steven Gerrard’s slip the major highlight of the game.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho reacted to the incident on Tuesday, with a most hilarious caption.
Posting on Instagram, Mourinho used a picture of himself keeping the ball from Gerrard along with the caption: “Anfield, April 27th 2014. Ball possession.”
It’s yet to be seen if the Special One will again manage in the Premier League, having been axed by three big clubs in England.
Real Madrid lose player for Chelsea clash
Chelsea have a fully fit squad, with Mateo Kovacic currently the only absentee, and Thomas Tuchel is hopeful to have him back for the second leg of the Champions League semi-final clash against Real Madrid.
But for Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, a good number of his players have been sweating it out over their physical fitness.
Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has now been ruled out for the remainder of the season and will miss Real Madrid’s Champions League tie with Chelsea next Wednesday.
Carvajal has had fitness issues over the past 12 months, and has suffered from hamstring, muscle and medial ligament issues. He had picked up a fresh injury that forced him to be substituted in the first leg clash against Chelsea on Tuesday.
The Real Madrid right-back was unable to take part in training on Thursday, and has now been ruled out until the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is keen to have his captain Sergio Ramos ready for the second leg against Chelsea, and also his other injured stars.
“I hope he is with us. Sergio has not yet trained with the team,” he said. “We are waiting for him to return, hopefully he can be there as soon as possible, but not only him, all of them.
“Lucas [Vazquez], Ferland [Mendy], Fede [Valverde]. All the players. I want the players with me.”
Courtois slams Chelsea as he hails Real Madrid as a special club
According to former Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea have a very poor presentation style as compared to Real Madrid.
The Belgian claims he feels special at Real Madrid.
Ahead of the 1-1 draw, Courtois told the Spanish media (via TribalFootball): “My presentation was one of the happiest moments of my life.
“Seeing the Champions League and the fans on the pitch have been very happy times. You feel very special and that’s why it’s the biggest club in the world.
“The way they present you is something I haven’t seen in any other team. With Chelsea, it’s a photo at the stadium and nothing else. To hear that you are a Real Madrid player is fantastic.”
