Chelsea could reportedly attempt to land the signature of Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico this summer.
The Blues are expected to pursue a new left-back in the next transfer window amid the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Emerson and Marcos Alonso.
Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell has been earmarked as the prime target for the Blues but according to Calciomercato, it appears that the club have an alternative target in the form of Tagliafico.
The Argentine helped Ajax win a domestic double in the previous campaign while he was also involved in the club’s run to the semi-final stage of the Champions League.
In the current season, Tagliafico has amassed five goals and seven assists from 38 appearances and he seems to have emerged as a cheaper option when compared to Chilwell, who could cost a club-record £80m.
Chelsea are presently occupying the fourth spot in the league standings with 48 points on the board. They have been inconsistent in the top-flight but have benefited from a similar run of form from the chasing pack.
