JUST IN: Zidane & Madrid confirm World cup winner will miss Chelsea clash on Wednesday
Ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League game between Chelsea and Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge, Real Madrid have confirmed they will be without an important player.
Real Madrid will face Chelsea on Wednesday night without key defender Raphael Varane who suffered an injury over the weekend.
The World Cup-winning defender was replaced at half-time during the Blancos’ 2-0 victory over Osasuna on Saturday.
The Spanish side have confirmed an adductor injury to Varane will rule him out of Wednesday’s semi-final clash against Chelsea.
A statement released on Real’s official website reads: “After the tests carried out today on our player Raphael Varane by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he was diagnosed with an injury to the right abductor muscles.”
Meanwhile, Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos could return from injury to face Chelsea on Wednesday night but has only played 125 minutes for Real Madrid since the middle of January.
