It appears that it isn’t only Chelsea fans growing frustrated with a lack of confirmation on the Kai Havertz deal.
Every day we expect an announcement, but it is yet to arrive despite it being widely reported that is is now very close. The impatience is being felt across the board though, with Frank Lampard and his Chelsea staff also expecting the deal to be done VERY soon.
This is according to ESPN, who have provided some interesting information on the deal in their transfer insider write up.
They say that Bayer Leverkusen have set a deadline of Aug. 28 to resolve Kai Havertz’s future. But Frank Lampard wants the situation to be resolved sooner, so the 21-year-old can start preseason at the club.
Chelsea are due back to pre-season training this Monday, so this would suggest he expects the deal to be confirmed over the weekend.
As ESPN say, the first-team squad are due to return next week and the Chelsea coaching staff left for their summer holidays believing Havertz would have signed for the club by the time preparations for the 2020-21 campaign began. But they still fully expect this deal to be completed, with Leverkusen finally showing signs of budging from their £90m valuation.
Chelsea fans very concerned over the Kai Havertz talks but a massive deal like this takes time to finalise.
