Juventus ready to use 24-year-old powerhouse as a swap deal to sign Jorginho

According to reports, Juventus is considering using the 24-year-old as a makeweight in a deal to get Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.

However, Jorginho, a Chelsea midfielder, is said to be a target for Juventus this summer. The Italian’s current contract with the Blues expires after a year.

Juventus could attempt to take advantage of Chelsea’s need to replace German defender Antonio Rudiger by proposing Merih Demiral in a swap deal for Jorginho, according to Calciomercato.

After his contract expires on June 30, Antonio Rudiger will leave the Premier League giants, leaving them low on defensive choices. Andreas Christensen is expected to finish his contract on June 30 and follow Rudiger out the exit door at Stamford Bridge. As a result, the Blues are anticipated to bolster their defense this summer.

Meanwhile, Juventus is looking for a ball-playing midfielder. The Bianconeri had a dismal 2021-22 season, finishing fourth in Serie A and being knocked out of the Champions League by Villarreal in the round of 16.

One of the key causes for the club’s demise was their lack of quality and experience in midfield. Jorginho of Chelsea is a target for the Italian giants.

Since joining Chelsea for £50 million from Napoli in 2018, Jorginho has been a key member of the starting lineup. The 30-year-old has 188 appearances in all competitions for the club, including one Champions League, one Europa League, and one FIFA Club World Cup.

Despite the fact that the midfielder’s agent claims that a contract extension with Chelsea is his client’s ‘priority,’ a return to Italy for the former Napoli star could be in the cards. Juventus is eager to put the Premier League champions to the test by providing Merih Demiral in exchange for Jorginho.

Demiral was on loan at Atalanta for the 2021-22 season, making 42 appearances and scoring two goals in all competitions. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Turkish defender is expected to return to Juventus after Atalanta chose not to exercise their option to buy him.

The 24-year-old struggled to stay consistent with Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, but his persistence, courage, and physicality could make him the ideal Chelsea substitute for Antonio Rudiger.
