The Blues have been strongly linked with a move for Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana.
The 24 year old goalkeeper is expected to leave Ajax at the end of the season and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was open to the idea of bringing the Cameroonian to Chelsea following Kepa Arrizabalaga’s inconsistent displays in goal.
Fans believed Onana was close to joining Chelsea after he posted what appeared to be a goodbye message to Ajax fans after it was confirmed the Eredivisie season had been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
He wrote on Instagram: “This journey ends with an empty stadium, but full of pride and satisfaction. Thanks for all the love and support.”
According to Spanish media outlet Sport, Chelsea have suffered a blow in the chase for Onana as the Ajax goalkeeper has decided to wait for Barcelona.
