Klopp confirms 7 key Liverpool stars to miss Carabao Cup final against Chelsea

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that striker Diogo Jota has picked up an injury that will see him miss the Carabao Cup final.

Klopp has said forward Diogo Jota faces “months” out with a knee injury he sustained in the win at Brentford on Saturday.

The Portuguese was taken off on a stretcher just before half-time after Brentford player, Christian Norgaard fell on his leg.

“With Diogo it will obviously take months,” said Klopp, speaking before his side play Luton in the Premier League on Wednesday.

A report in Portugal has put it at two months, but it could actually be more.

Jota is expected to return before the season finishes and prior to Euro 2024 in the summer.

Liverpool have a number of key players out, Klopp has confirmed. A good number of Liverpool players will miss the Carabao Cup final.

Reds midfielder Curtis Jones also went off injured in the Brentford game, while striker Darwin Nunez was substituted at half-time as a precaution.

Keeper Alisson Becker missed the game after picking up an issue in training the day before the match.

Liverpool are already without defender Trent Alexander-Arnold with a knee injury as well as midfielders Dominik Szoboszlai and Thiago Alcantara with respective hamstring and muscle issues.

“It’s not great, definitely not,” added Klopp. “I’d like to say no issues but obviously we have some.

“So, not available, Alisson, that’s a muscle injury where we don’t know exactly how long it takes but definitely not in the foreseeable time coming back.

“The others we will deal with it day-by-day with muscle things.

“Trent and Dom are on the way back but not in team training yet.”

Liverpool still have a strong team despite the recent injuries, and Mauricio Pochettino should be wary of complacency.
