La-Liga club set to accept offer! as Chelsea ready to line-up €60m for Fullback
According to El Nacional, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is “ready to accept” a bid of €60m (€50.7m) for left-back Ferland Mendy if Chelsea make an official approach,
The Catalan rumour mongers claim that the Blues tried to sign the Frenchman last summer but failed to match Real’s asking price.
It is believed that Thomas Tuchel’s side were willing to pay €40m (£34m) for Mendy, but that fell quite a way short of the player’s valuation.
However, El Nacional report that Chelsea may well succeed with another offer for the 26-year-old, with Perez said to be confident he can find a “cheaper alternative” to replace him.
It’s probably wise to take this story with a large pinch of salt. El Nacional are not known for their reliability when it comes to transfer stories and, the fact is, the Blues already have two capable left wingbacks in Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso.
