Lampard close to manage Chelsea rivals?, as £80m player opens up on transfer with Blues looking to wrap up five-year deal

Frank Lampard managerial stint at Stamford Bridge didn’t last long as he was manager of the club for only 18 months.

The Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has often reiterated his love for Chelsea, and even upon his dismissal, he has recently admitted that the club will forever be in his heart.

Meanwhile, former Manchester City winger Trevor Sinclair, has backed Lampard to go on and coach Chelsea rivals Tottenham, who are yet to appoint a permanent manager since the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

“One that I don’t think has been mentioned much – and he does have connections to the club through his family – is Lampard,” Sinclair told talkSPORT.

“Harry Redknapp [Lampard’s uncle] has been manager of the football club, Jamie Redknapp [his cousin] has played there, he’s a London lad.

“He didn’t do much wrong at Chelsea.

“I think it’s a good fit. He did a good job, especially in the first season at Chelsea when they had the embargo, they just lost their best player.

“He went in there and steadied the ship, gave a lot of young players an opportunity. Tottenham have this unbelievable academy, surely you want to bring young players through like that?

“Frank is the ideal man, especially when he’s got Jody Morris with him. If Rafa [Benitez] can go to Everton, why can’t Frank go to Tottenham? If you ask the fans, they’ll want a young, up-and-coming manager who is hungry.

“He still loves Chelsea, but he’ll be disappointed with the way that ended. He’ll want to go to a big club and prove his worth.”

Declan Rice has insisted he has not been made aware of any transfer speculation during his time with the England squad this summer.

Rice has been linked with a move to Chelsea and Manchester United over the past few months after another impressive season with the Hammers have made him one of the best holding midfielders in the Premier League.

It is believed that both Chelsea and United are ready to meet that £80 million asking price this summer and get a transfer deal done, but they must both wait until after the European Championships have finished for England

But amid the speculation, The 22-year-old midfielder spoke about other players – as well as himself – being involved in transfer speculation and added that those potential deals can be sorted once the tournament has reached its conclusion next month.

Jadon Sancho is reportedly close to joining Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund, while Tottenham striker Harry Kane is attracting interest from Premier League champions Manchester City.

“I’m not lying, I’ve not seen a thing. As players it would be disrespectful to speak about it around other players,” Rice said.

“There is speculation about players going but the main focus at the moment is your country, trying to win this tournament.

“If players want to move on, that can be dealt with after the tournament.

“While we’re here, like Gareth has always said, you need to be strictly focused on what is happening here with England and whatever happens with the club takes care of itself after the tournament.”
