Chelsea’s new No. 10 Christian Pulisic was missing in action against Brighton on Monday night, as the Blues ran out 3-1 winners at the Amex Stadium in our first league game of the season.
The American suffered a hamstring injury during the FA Cup final against Arsenal, and hasn’t been able to play since then.
Pulisic returned to training ahead of the new season, but suffered a minor relapse before the game against Brighton.
Speaking before the Brighton clash, Lampard told Sky Sports: “Christian Pulisic is not fit, unfortunately. So the options came down a bit with the injuries. But at the same time we’ve worked and we’re ready.”
After the game, Lampard further gave update on the American star, as he admitted that he was uncertain if he would be available for our next game against Liverpool.
Lampard said: “Christian was training with us last week but he had a bit of discomfort a couple of days ago when he was trying to be in contention for today.
“It would have been a big ask for today and he has had to take a few steps back and we will have to see.”
