Lampard is confident of wrapping up deal ‘for no-nonsense defender’ after fans told fee is agreed

Chelsea are believed to be confident of signing Ligue 1 centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes during the summer transfer window.

There has been a shutdown of football over the last few months and many fans have become frustrated at the lack of action during the Coronavirus outbreak, but that has not stopped speculation about possible arrivals to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Frank Lampard knows that he needs to sign defenders in the summer as the current crop are not quite good enough, and he has been linked with a whole host of players over the last few months, but it seems that he could be set to hijack Everton’s move for Gabriel

Gabriel is the latest player to rise to prominence at Lille having joined the Ligue 1 outfit from Brazilian minnows Avai FC in 2017, and recent reports suggested Everton have had an offer for his services accepted with The Independent reporting that the 22-year-old had already passed off-site medical checks.

However, ESPN claim the Lille youngster, who’s 22, is one of the Blues’ top transfer targets, and Frank Lampard is reported to be impressed by Magalhaes aggressive, no-nonsense style of play and is now ready to make sure that he brings the unit to Chelsea for a fee of around £30 million.

Transfer expert Duncan Castles recently claimed that Lille have accepted an offer of £31 million from Chelsea to conclude this transfer deal: “There have been four offers for Gabriel received by Lille and accepted by Lille,” Castles told the Transfer Window podcast.

“Lille are a club dependent on transfer revenue, they’ve agreed a deal with a total value of €35m (£31m). Everton are one of the clubs who have had an offer accepted. Two clubs in Italy have had an offer accepted. The fourth club is Chelsea.”
