Lampard reveals why Hakim Ziyech is still struggling to play
Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech has played just twice since signing for Chelsea. The Morocco International was signed in February from Ajax, but he’s yet to adjust to the demands of first team football.
The Dutch league was quickly terminated last season, due to the coronavirus pandemic, and before the start of this season, he suffered an injury that kept him out for longer.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has been trying to integrate him into the team gradually, and he has admitted that it hasn’t really been easy, knowing that Ziyech hasn’t played much football this year.
Lampard said in his press conference today: “It’s been very difficult to integrate him.
“We have a bubble here at Cobham so we can’t play against the Under-23s or bring over a lot of kids to replicate 11 v 11 games on big-sized pitches, which is generally where you would want someone to be working when they’ve not played for five or six months off.
“We miss that and we have to find the right way to give Hakim and others in the squad minutes as quickly as we can.”
