Christian Pulisic wasn’t named in the starting XI for the FA Cup game against Manchester United on Sunday and the American international also didn’t make an appearance from the bench.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard revealed before the 3-1 victory over Manchester United that Pulisic wasn’t named in the starting XI because he was nursing a minor injury.
Lampard said: “I’m very proud. It’s the semi-final of the FA Cup against Manchester United – it does not come any bigger.
“I’ve won here as a player but it doesn’t feel like it counts for much today. We know we have got a lot of work to do against a very good side but we are willing to give it a go.
“They are a very strong side and they have obvious threats in attacking areas, but my concern is what can we do.
“The couple of changes I have made, with Christian Pulisic dealing with an injury, I think it’s a team that can win the game.
“In the three games we have played against them this season, we have had more possession but you don’t win points with that. “We are very aware of their threats and we have to defend well, but I want my team to believe in themselves.”
