Lampard told to follow Liverpool’s example by selling forward before deadline

Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch believes Chelsea should follow Liverpool’s example by ‘cashing in’ on Callum Hudson-Odoi.

German champions Bayern Munich are keen on signing Hudson-Odoi and reportedly submitted a loan offer for the winger including a £70million option to buy which Chelsea rejected.

Hudson-Odoi enjoyed a breakthrough season for Chelsea during the 2018-19 season when he scored four goals in nine Europa League matches but the 19 year old only scored three goals in 33 appearances in all competitions last season and has seemingly fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool recently sold Rhian Brewster to Sheffield United for £24millon and Crouch has urged Chelsea to follow suit by offloading Hudson-Odoi.

Crouch told BT Sport: “It comes down to what Frank thinks of the player. It’s clear he has potential and he will improve.

“But has he improved since he was that 18-year-old who burst onto the scene and took our breath away? Maybe not.

“I don’t think he’s improved at the level that I think they would have thought he would.

“Maybe it’s time [to cash in]. You look at Liverpool cashing in on Rhian Brewster…

“If you can get a buy-back clause and a potential sell-on fee it might not be a bad deal given the amount of money and the investments Chelsea have already made.”
