Chelsea are putting the final touches to the agreement which will see RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
The 24 year old striker has agreed personal terms with the Blues with will see him earn £200,000 a week. Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has reportedly told Marina Granovskaia the next player the club should sign when Werner’s transfer is finalized.
According to Daily Express, Lampard wants Chelsea to step up interest in Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Kai Havertz after concluding Werner’s transfer.
Havertz, who celebrated his 21st birthday last week, is also a target for Liverpool, while Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested in signing him too.
Meanwhile, former Liverpool player Dietmar Hamann has compared Havertz to Chelsea great Michael Ballack. “The one player who stands out for me is Havertz,” Hamann said. “He’s an exceptional player who reminds me of a young Michael Ballack.
“He has that air of arrogance… in a nice way. He’s just a natural. He’s two-footed, he’s tall and he’s good in the air.
“He’s very versatile, he can play across the front, he can play in any position. I think he is the best player we have got in Germany at the moment.
“There’s talk about Werner maybe going to England and obviously he’s a different player but I think Havertz is the one I would be looking at.”
