‘Last-ditch! as Chelsea makes last move for Tuchel favorites player before deadline

According to reports, The Blues have made a last-ditch enquiry over Barcelona outcast Ousmane Dembele,

The French winger, 24, is now into the final six months of his current contract at the Nou Camp and eligible to negotiate pre-contract terms with clubs over a free transfer in the summer.

Boss Xavi has made it clear he is keen to keep Dembele.

But the wantaway forward has shown no signs of extending his stay.

Well, according to Sky Sports, Chelsea are looking to take advantage with just hours left in the January window,

Thomas Tuchel is desperate to add some extra attacking firepower for the second half of the season after their title charge all-but crumbled over Christmas.

Dembele could be available for a cut-price fee on deadline day as Barcelona admit defeat in their quest to convince him to stay.

However, the report claims while ‘not impossible’, the deal looks unlikely given how little time is left to complete the paperwork.

Should they miss out on Dembele this month, Chelsea are believed to be willing to offer the France international a pre-contract to land him on a free on July 1.

Dembele has already rejected Arsenal and Tottenham on deadline day, according to reports.

The winger was even believed to have been part of a deal that would take Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona, before that move collapsed.

Dembele passed on the North London rivals to secure a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The forward was spotted in Paris but the move fell apart, with his wages reportedly having the potential to cause Financial Fair Play issues.

Dembele’s sky-high wage demands are believed to be the biggest hurdle to overcome for Chelsea in their last-ditch bid to land him.
