The Blues are among the clubs to have been strongly linked with Lyon striker Moussa Dembele.
The Blues tried to sign Dembele during the January transfer window but Lyon was reluctant to let him leave halfway through the season.
We brought you report earlier this month that Lyon will be forced to sell Dembele this summer due to loss of Champions League revenue as well as losing potential TV revenue following the cancellation of the French league.
Lyon were demoted from 5th to 7th after clubs in France opted to decide standings based on points-per-game and this means Lyon won’t play Champions League football next season.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has admitted the club may struggle to keep hold of the striker due to lack of Champions League football.
He told Le Progrès: “I am going to do everything to keep the players.
“But players who are programmed to play in Europe could want to go elsewhere because we don’t have European football.”
