Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia is going to dig deeper in January if needed to complete the Frank Lampard’s squad. Even though the Blues has had a busy transfer window after signing seven new signings this summer. But in case Lampard needs to strengthen the squad, Granovskaia is going to do it all.

After relying completely on academy players, youngsters, and those present in the squad due to the transfer ban imposed on the club by UEFA. Chelsea came out roaring this summer. The club was unstoppable in the last window and has spent around £220m in the summer spending spree.

Frank Lampard was keen to strengthen his side and thus Chelsea made sure to bring as many players as they could. The new addition to the first team squad includes Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Kai Havertz, Edouard Mendy, and Malang Sarr. Except for Sarr who is now sent on loan to Porto. All the other six players are available for the 2020/21 campaign.

Each of them has made their Chelsea debut and has featured this season except for Hakim Ziyech. The former Ajax player picked up a knee injury in a pre-season friendly clash against Brighton and Hove Albion in August. He is believed to make his debut once the international break gets over.

Chelsea wanted to end the gap between the top clubs. The Blues are once again ready to challenge for various titles. Even after bringing so much of reinforcement if frank Lampard would feel the need of completing his squad. Marina Granovskaia would help the club with transfers.

AREAS OF REINFORCEMENT LAMPARD AND CHELSEA LOOK FOR
CENTRE-BACK: Being one of the top clubs in the Premier League, Chelsea was very weak at the back in the last season. The club has conceded a total of 54 goals more than any of the clubs in the top ten. Even after having the worst defensive line, the Stamford-based club couldn’t fix it completely in the summer.

The Summer signing Thiago Silva has arrived on a free transfer for a season and the other season is only sure if both the clubs will be equally happy. Thus he is not a long-term plan. Another signing Malang Sarr is already sent out on loan to become available for the future. That too remains a question if he could fit well in the position.

Antonio Rudiger and Fikayo Tomori have decided to stay but nothing is certain about their future. Moreover, they are Frank Lampard’s last options to rely on.

Chelsea can possibly target two players to take Care of that area particularly after the transfer failed to happen. Despite having huge interest from Manchester City, Kalidou Koulibaly is still a Napoli player. The center back has been in the electric form for Napoli and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed.

Meanwhile, Chelsea can also target Dayot Upamecano for the desired position. The 21-year old has a release clause of £38m and would also fit in Lampard’s squad.

DEFENSIVE CENTRAL MIDFIELD: This position also requires the attention of the club as well as some strengthening in the coming transfer window. Hence Declan Rice would be the most suitable player for the position. The Blues have been linked with a player for the move but couldn’t offer any formal bid for the player as they failed to make a room for him.

West Ham has given £80m valuation to Rice and after making no such transfers in the last window. The Hammers decided not to give up on their key player as the player has impressed in the previous season. If Chelsea failed to bring in Rice they could still go for Boubakary Soumare, who was on Chelsea radar before. The Lille midfielder is getting decent growth and has the ability to develop into a top player in the future.
