Mauricio Pochettino wants Chelsea to copy this Manchester City tactic

Mauricio Pochettino is desperate for his Chelsea side to be more like Manchester City in one specific way.

That is according to The Evening Standard.

Mauricio Pochettino, who’s now had a few months in charge as Chelsea’s head coach, is definitely still trying to implement his ideas on the side.

The Blues are on top in most of their games, especially in recent weeks, but the issue still remains regarding the lack of a clinical goalscorer.

Aside from becoming a winning machine like Man City, Chelsea also want to copy Pep Guardiola’s side in another way.

The Evening Standard explains that Pochettino wants his Chelsea to become much more streetwise off the ball like Man City.

This refers to making more tactical fouls and timely defensive interventions.

They are expert at winning back possession at pace and nullifying any counter-attacks on them.

You can’t go wrong from copying the Guardiola template at the Etihad Stadium.

Mauricio Pochettino can get it right

As this Chelsea side continues to grow and learn under Pochettino, we’re just desperate for there to be some faith in him.

The Argentine boss knows there’s a very tricky run of fixture coming up and the Premier League table could look pretty bleak in a few weeks time.

Chelsea host Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup tonight. Afterwards, there’s some league games against Tottenham, Manchester City, Newcastle United and Brighton.

Speaking via John Obi Mikel’s official podcast recently, John Terry said Pochettino has been “excellent” since arriving in the summer. He’s noticed a feel-good factor in the building, too.

We just want Pochettino to be afforded some more time. For now, it does feel like most of the supporters are still backing him despite a few indifferent result.
