Mauricio Pochettino wants ‘unbelievable’ player signed for Chelsea in the next two weeks – journalist

Mauricio Pochettino would like Chelsea to sign Brighton’s Moises Caicedo within the next couple of weeks.

That is according to well-respected journalist Simon Phillips.

Most of the Chelsea squad returned to pre-season training this week at Cobham, with Mauricio Pochettino taking charge for the first time as the club’s new head coach.

The Blues will soon fly out to the United States for their pre-season tour. They will play Wrexham, Brighton, Newcastle United, Fulham and Borussia Dortmund during a busy few weeks overseas.

But will Moises Caicedo be part of the travelling party?

Phillips has claimed on his Substack that Chelsea fly to the USA in just two weeks to begin pre-season.

He claims that Pochettino would like Caicedo to be with the Blues squad by then in an ideal world.

Apparently, his potential transfer to Stamford Bridge is “moving positively”. There are currently ongoing talks between Chelsea and Brighton regarding payments for the 21-year-old star.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on his YouTube channel earlier this week that Chelsea and Brighton have been discussing Caicedo’s potential transfer in the past few days. He added that Pochettino’s side are trying to agree an £80million transfer, which would be a £70million fee plus £10million in add-ons.

Described as “unbelievable” by Chris Sutton on BT Sport Score (29 April, 2023), Caicedo is someone we really want to be wearing Chelsea colours next season.

He was outstanding last season in a Brighton side that deservedly qualified for Europe.

The all-action defensive midfielder definitely has shades of the great N’Golo Kante, who called time on his Chelsea career this summer and left the club.

Caicedo would definitely be our pick to replace Kante in the Blues line-up.
