Boehly issues OFFICIAL statement after Chelsea confirm summer move
CHELSEA have confirmed Cesar Azpilicueta’s departure from the club following his trophy-laden eleven years.
Azpilicueta has been at the club for a number of years now – has won countless trophies including the Champions League and Premier League – and is a big member of that squad.
However – during the last summer transfer window there was alot of speculation in the media that he wanted to leave the club – that he felt his time was up at Stamford Bride and a move to Spain was on the cards.
Barcelona were looking to add him to the squad – they were looking to add some experience to the back-line and reportedly believed that he would be a good addition to the squad.
However, despite all the speculation and despite all the rumours – in the end Azpilicueta stayed at Stamford Bridge to try and help the club get into the Champions League and win some more trophies.
But his time at Chelsea is now and the Blues have released a statement confirming that the Spaniard has departed the club.

“He has set the standards at the club for more than a decade and demonstrated to everyone what is required day in, day out to achieve success.
“Coaches and teammates past and present have trusted him to lead by example as captain.
“He has done so immaculately on and off the pitch, something for which we are grateful. For that and so much more, Cesar will always be welcomed back at Stamford Bridge.”
