Mendy sends ‘massive message’ to Chelsea fans after his error against Everton
Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson scored from the penalty spot to secure a 1-0 victory over Chelsea on Saturday, which ended Chelsea’s 17-game unbeaten run.
Everton were awarded a penalty in the first half after Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy’s mistimed tackle on Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Speaking to BT Sport in the aftermath of the loss, Mendy admitted to misjudging his tackle but expressed confidence in the Blues chances of picking a silverware this season.
He said: “I thought I’d win the ball. It all happened so fast, I judged the tackle wrongly and could have done better.
“We still have a good chance this season.mend
“It’s our second loss so far. we really struggled tonight but could have done better.
“We’ve tried to keep the spirit so far and hopefully could surprise many this season.”
