Messi to Chelsea? Chelsea fans reveals how Abramovich can sign Messi after latest club decision
Barcelona have come out to announce that Messi won’t be staying with them next season, and it’s a story that has shocked the world.
A statement on the club’s website read: “Despite FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi having reached an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of financial and structural obstacles (Spanish Liga regulations).
“As a result of this situation, Messi shall not be staying on at FC Barcelona. Both parties deeply regret that the wishes of the player and the club will ultimately not be fulfilled.
“FC Barcelona wholeheartedly expresses its gratitude to the player for his contribution to the aggrandisement of the club and wishes him all the very best for the future in his personal and professional life.”
Barca are in financial crisis, and despite Messi agreeing a 50% paycut, the Blaugrana cannot afford his wages. The Argentine star’s latest deal expired this summer but he was expected to commit to a new contract ahead of the new season.
The big question is: who would sign Messi for free next season?
There are not so many clubs who can afford Messi, and definitely none of them believed he’d be available on a free transfer to keep funds for his signature.
However, Chelsea fans have now come up with a funny theory that the club should abandon a move for Romelu Lukaku, and spend his transfer fee on Messi’s wages instead.
However, Check out some comments from the Blues fans on Reddit
teems: “Take that 150m you were gonna spend on Lukaku and offer Messi a 1m-per-week contract. It will pay itself back!”
shoesclues03: “Ok, hear me out on this. PSG just bought a bunch of player, can’t afford him. They need to sell probably Mbappe to make space on the wage bill. Chelsea swoops for Mbappe and Messi to PSG to link up with his friends. Just a possibility.”

@nomifooty tweeted: “I know Messi is on crazy salary but if there ever was a player who deserved to get such money, then it’s surely Messi cause he’s the GOAT. He’s not just a player, he’s a brand himself. Having him in your team would be enormous for any club’s stature. It improves the value of the club.”
@CFCLosBlues: “The club 1000% need to make an offer for Messi. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, Roman tried before, bare minimum we have to put our hat in the ring. Only 4 Clubs can afford him, we’re 1 of those 4.”
@ConnCFC: “Doesn’t matter how much it costs, if Chelsea have the chance to sign Messi they should try 1000%. Once in a lifetime signing.”
