Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Ajax starlet Amourricho van Axel Dongen, reports have claimed.
Chelsea have been the most active side in the transfer window this summer and Frank Lampard has brought in some first-team players that are expected to help the club mount a serious challenge for titles next season.
However, the Blues are still eager to continue their trend of buying some of the best talents in the game and either give them a shot in the first-team, or send them out on loan until they are ready to be sold.
And that is what Chelsea are seeking to do over the next few days as The Telegraph claims Chelsea lead Manchester United and City in the race for the 15-year-old winger, with the reports suggesting that they are on the verge of landing the talent Dutchman.
The Dutchman has represented his country three times at Under-16 level – scoring once, and he has already debuted for Ajax’s Under-18 side – three years above his age group.
The wide player has also captained the development side and has been scouted on a number of occasions by the Blues hierarchy.
Look, Axel Dongen is a player that many of you will probably have never heard of, but Ajax are excited about just how far he can go in the game and will be very disappointed to see that he is on the verge of leaving.
Chelsea have a very good youth set up at the club, but many will be hoping that Axel Dongen is signing by the Premier League giants and then put into a system that has not worked for so many other young talents. Chelsea are a good move for the lad, but is it the right now? Right now?
