Struggle Kepa Arrizabalaga’s have meant that Chelsea are being regularly linked with new goalkeepers, and top of that list is Andre Onana.
However, The Ajax stopper has had a couple of great seasons, and has truly established himself as one of the continent’s top options, especially of those players who are actually available to buy. The Cameroon international hasn’t been putting much pressure on from his end, but that looks like it’s now changing.
His latest quotes from Holland, picked up and translated by Football.London, are those of a man who is ready to go, without leaving much wiggle room or space for interpretation:
“It was five great years here [at Ajax]. But now my time has come to take a step,” the former Barcelona player said. ” I don’t know yet what will happen, but my ambitions and agreements are clear.”
It sounds like he wants out, and the club have told him that they will accept reasonable offers. Whether one arrives in this heavily disturbed summer that comes anywhere near the kind of sums the Dutch club would have been expecting is another question entirely.
But if he’s going anywhere, Chelsea must be near the top of the list of potential destinations.
