Next Chelsea deal after Raheem Sterling announcement finally revealed
Raheem Sterling will soon be announced as a Chelsea player by Manchester City.
With his new contract, Sterling will make £300,000 per week, surpassing N’Golo Kante as Chelsea’s highest-paid player.
Deals with other teams are also being pushed through by Chelsea under Pep Guardiola.
Sport reports that Chelsea and Manchester City are in “advanced talks” regarding a Nathan Ake re-signing.
Ake is ‘open’ to joining Chelsea, and the conversations have ‘advanced’ in recent days.
‘Serious conversations’ have been had regarding a transfer for the Netherlands international, even if no agreement has yet been reached.
Plans are in place for Ake to return to Stamford Bridge, and the transfer fee and personal terms have been addressed.
In two seasons with Manchester City, Ake has made 40 appearances but has struggled to establish himself as a starter.
As a replacement for the departing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, Ake is anticipated to feature more frequently for Chelsea.
However, Glen Johnson, a former Chelsea right-back, has questioned the agreement.
Johnson claims that Ake isn’t a worthy successor to the late Antonio Rudiger and that his signing won’t thrill the supporters.
Speaking to GGRecon, Johnson was asked whether Chelsea fans would feel “underwhelmed” if Ake was the man to replace Rudiger. The former Blues right-back said: “Yes, definitely.
“No disrespect to Ake, but I think most people were surprised when he went to Manchester City, certainly for that amount of money [£40m]. Put it this way, he didn’t blow my mind when he was at Bournemouth. He’s just ‘OK’.
“Then we saw the amount of money for him to go to City, and it was like: ‘Jesus, where have they seen that?!’. I don’t think he’s a suitable replacement for Rudiger at all.”
