“Notoriously bad decisions, I am disappointed”–Cesar Azpilicueta ‘hits’ at Anthony Taylor for wrong decision in nations league final

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta last night lost to France in the final of the Nations League.

However, Marcos Alonso was also on the losing side after a late winner from Kylian Mbappe.

Following the game, there was controversy around the goal and it took a look and decision from VAR to allow it to stand.

This annoyed Spain and Azpilicueta, who believes it was the wrong decision. But he wasn’t annoyed by that, he was more annoyed that the fact the Referee didn’t go to the monitor and look and make the decision himself.

The Referee? Anthony Taylor, who has notoriously gets many decisions badly wrong against Chelsea over time.

“We were the better team the score says different’: Azpilicueta said.

“We are disappointed, but that is how football works.

“The Referee is there to makes the decisions. I am disappointed that Mr Anthony Taylor isn’t the one who makes the decision, it is VAR that makes the decision.

I don’t know why the Referee doesn’t got to the monitor and make the decision. The monitor is there to use it. Every time we have the meetings we say the same thing. The decision is very clear, I don’t know why he doesn’t go to the monitor.”
