The FA Cup quarterfinal tie between Leicester City and Chelsea will finally take place on Sunday, June 28 at 4pm, the club’s official website confirms.
The game will take place at King Power Stadium and naturally, no fans will be allowed to the ground.
This means that Chelsea will have a game every three to four days since they kick the ball for the first time since the 4-0 home win over Everton on March 8.
Earlier, the Premier League has confirmed that the Blues will resume the season on Sunday, June 21 by taking on Aston Villa away from home. This fixture will be followed by Man City’s visit to Stamford Bridge on June 25 and then, the FA Cup showdown. On July 1, Chelsea will take on West Ham at the London Stadium.
The FA Cup is Chelsea’s last real possibility to win a trophy in Frank Lampard’s first season in charge. Liverpool are all but certain to win the Premier League, while a 3-0 deficit against a very strong Bayern Munich in the Champions League seems too much for the Blues.
However, Chelsea have already knocked Jurgen Klopp’s side out of the FA Cup and will surely relish their chances against Leicester City.
