“Pack your bags & go”, “liability player” – Blues fans tells Chelsea player after 1-0 loss to Everton

Chelsea fans were furious after their team put up a poor performance and lost 1-0 to relegation-threatened Everton on Sunday.

In comparison to the hosts’ nine shots, the Blues had 79 percent possession and 17 shots. However, they were unable to break through a tenacious and resolute Toffees side, with goalkeeper Jordan Pickford putting in an outstanding performance to deny Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Following a disheartening 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Thursday, the outcome capped off a terrible week for the West London team.

Chelsea are still on course to finish third in the Premier League, but their lead over fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur has shrunk to just five points following the Lilywhites’ 3-1 win over Leicester City.

Richarlison took advantage of some sloppy defense from captain Cesar Azpilicueta to give Everton the lead in the first minute of the second half. The Brazilian then stroked the game’s only goal past Edouard Mendy.

It was a lovely moment for Everton manager Frank Lampard, whom Tuchel succeeded as Chelsea manager in January 2021 when the iconic midfielder was fired.

Following the match, fans were furious with their team captain, believing he was to blame for the unexpected loss.

According to Sky Sports, the Spanish international’s contract was extended until June 2023 in April. He has 470 appearances for the two-time European winners. According to rumours, he will join Barcelona on a free transfer this summer.

Fans, on the other hand, have taken to Twitter to convey their belief that his time at Stamford Bridge is up:

@siilvacfc: Barcelona can come take Azpilicueta!
we’ll give them Christensen as a bonus

@CFCPys: Tears, I swear we are up in the top 3 for errors leading to goals this season, Azpilicueta can pack his bags to Barca, we need a rebuild so badly.

@Mxdiano: Azpilicueta is a liability full stop, football is a cruel game.

@TheChelseaWay: Do you know how bad you have to be to look worse than Gary Cahill. Azpilicueta epitomises this current Chelsea side. A perennial let-down.

@ZachLowy: With all due respect to César Azpilicueta and what he’s achieved, I have no idea how Barcelona look at the current version of him and think he’d be a good signing for them.
