Pay £18million and get him…Chelsea handed huge boost to land 86 EPL goals this January

According to the Evening Standard, Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has been made available for transfer at a price of £18 million, attracting interest from top Premier League clubs including Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United. This development comes in the final week of the January transfer window.

Wilson, who has scored 46 goals in 102 appearances for Newcastle, is seen as a valuable asset that Newcastle United could sell.

Newcastle’s need to raise funds is driven by the necessity to comply with Premier League profit and sustainability rules, especially after significant spending since their takeover by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund in 2021.

The 31-year-old England international, with a total of 86 goals in 215 Premier League appearances, could provide a short-term solution for the clubs interested.

Previously, he had discussions with Atletico Madrid but is reluctant to move abroad, particularly to be a backup player, as he aims for a spot in England’s squad for Euro 2024. AC Milan has also shown interest in Wilson.

The transfer situation of Wilson is part of a wider narrative in the transfer market, with Chelsea considering various forward options and Manchester United potentially needing a versatile attacker due to Anthony Martial’s injury.
