(Pictured): Zouma was the last Chelsea player to leave the pitch as he had to console a Rennes player
According to RMC Sport, Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma was the last Chelsea player to return to the dressing room after staying for longer on the pitch to have a chat with Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, who was distraught after his side’s defeat.
It was Rennes first Champions League experience, and for the likes of Camavinga, being on the losing side yet again was an hurtful experience, as they remain bottom of Group E.
Zouma who had played in the French league, while as a teenager who broke through from Saint-Etienne, still keeps an eye on the French Ligue One.
Both goals conceded by Rennes, came from the run of play, and Zouma was heard explaining the tactical side of the goal to Camavinga as he tried to console the young midfielder.
“Sometimes you have to swing when you’re behind,” Zouma told Camavinga at the end of the game, according to RMC Sport.
“We do it sometimes. “When there is pressure, you lose the ball and a goal. Evert time it’s like this! It happened against PSG too.”
Camavinga listened with intent and will be hoping to play at the highest level.
