Player had secret medical at Chelsea as Bohely set to sign three targets for Graham Potter in January

The Blues were linked with a number of players in the summer transfer window, and while they were able to seal some deals, they lost many.

One of the players who were linked with moves to Chelsea was Christopher Nkunku and despite the transfer window already closed, the reports of his moves continue to be in the news

Some sources in Germany have now reported that Chelsea had conducted a covert medical on the RB Leipzig attacker.

Bild, a solid source, said that “last month we had the 24-year-old come to Frankfurt for check ups, with “an orthopedist” present. It all sounds rather against the rules unless Leipzig gave permission.

There is talk of a €60m release clause, and if that’s true it could be that we actually do this deal midseason, and just wait for the window to open to actually bring him in, either in January or next summer.”

Graham Potter took over the reins after Thomas Tuchel‘s sacking by the new owners. Potter was handed a five-year deal worth £50 million to take the reigns of the club. Chelsea are now sixth in the league which is of no great cause of concern this early to the season.

However, Chelsea have lacked the cutting edge and have conceded a goal in every game so far. Hence, the new owners thought it was time for a breath of fresh air at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel is the past and Graham Potter is the future of Chelsea. According to a report by the Metro, the Chelsea owners want Potter to achieve three major targets in his tenure. The first is a top-four finish in the league and the second; is a deep run in the Champions League.

However, Potter won’t be axed if he fails to achieve any of his first two targets. The Chelsea owners will not terminate his contract if he can achieve his third target. The third target is to improve the performance of the club and forge a new philosophy within the club. Moreover, if Potter can achieve this third aim, he will be backed fully by the owners. The owners will give Graham Potter the time and financial backing necessary to build a dominant team.

Chelsea takes on Crystal Palace on Saturday. This will be Potter’s first Premier League match with Chelsea. The first match of Graham Potter was the 1-1 draw with Salzburg in the Champions League. However, Graham Potter will be hoping that come Saturday, he will get his first victory with the Blues
