Player ratings: Aston Villa 1 vs 2 Chelsea as Pulisic makes huge impact

0

Chelsea come from behind to beat Villa 2-1 at the Villa’s park this afternoon, with the goals coming from Christian Pulisic and Olivier Giroud within 2 minutes. Check out our ratings below

Kepa: Made a good save from Anwar El Ghazi as he saved a long range effort. He was left completely exposed for the opening goal and there was little he could do. Was barely tested for most part of the game. 6/10

Azpilicueta: He was the assist king today as his passes led to the goals scored by Pulisic and Giroud. Constantly gave Chelsea width from the start of the game, but his delivery in the first half was poor. 7/10

Rudiger: Was solid for much of the game, but was missing in two key moments of the game and one of which led to Villa’s goal. He needs to learn to coordinate the backline at all times. 5/10

Christensen: Comfortable for most part of the game and was barely tested. 5/10

Alonso: Got into some good positions but his finishing and decision making in the final third was below par. 5/10

Kante: Back to his usual defensive midfield position and he had a good game. Showed a good passing range and was as well solid at the back. 7/10

Kovacic: Was a bit stifled out in the middle of the park as we didn’t get to see his usual runs and drive with the ball. 6/10

Loftus-Cheek: First competitive game in a year and he looked very rusty. Struggled for much of the game until he was subbed off. 4/10

Mount: Was Chelsea’s best attacking player in the first half as everything went through him. Forced Orjan Nyland into a terrific save and he kept creating openings for his teammates. Nice game and his energy was like he never went away. 7.5/10

Willian: Tried his best at times, but looked a bit rusty. Should have done more with his runs and his balls into the box. 6/10

Giroud: Was missing in the first-half, but did well to score Chelsea’s second goal and consequently the match winner. 7/10

Subs: Barkley: Came on for Kovacic before the hour mark and had a decent game. 6/10

Pulisic: Turned the game around after coming on and scored the equalising goal for Chelsea. Should be on the starting sheet in the next game. 7/10

Tammy Abraham: Replaced Giroud with just ten minutes left. 5/10

Reece James: Came on late for Willian on the 90th minute. Almost cost the team with some unnecessary mistakes. 4/10
