Pogba reacts to Rudiger ‘biting’ incident, as 34-goal Chelsea target very keen on joining Liverpool

France’s 1-0 win over Germany saw quite the bizarre incident take place during the game involving Antonio Rudiger and Paul Pogba.

The Chelsea man appeared to open his mouth and bite Pogba on his back, something which the midfielder immediately protested.

There was much made of the incident on social media, with there being lots of reactions and perhaps even some overreactions.

Reacting to the incident, Pogba told reporters: “In terms of Tony, we’re friends. There was nothing big.

“I think you saw the television pictures, this is all over, this belongs to the past, I’m not crying for yellow or red cards because of such actions.

“He nibbled, I think, a little bit on me, but we’ve known each other for a long time.

“I felt it, I told the referee, he takes the decisions and he took a decision. It’s over, I just want to play football.

“He hasn’t received any card, I think it’s better like this. It was a great match for us, for the fans, for the spectators. I don’t want him to be suspended because of such a situation. At the end of the match we hugged each other and that’s it.”

Chelsea have received a potential transfer blow with Patson Daka eager to join Liverpool this summer.

The Zambian had a superb 2020/21 campaign with Red Bull Salzburg, registering 34 goals and 12 assists from 42 appearances.

A recent report from Football Insider claimed that the Blues and Reds are interested in signing the 22-year-old striker.

The same publication cites that the Reds are leading the race with Daka ‘very keen’ on playing under manager Jurgen Klopp.

Roberto Firmino had a disappointing season with the Reds, scoring just nine goals from 48 appearances in all competitions.

Klopp could be eyeing a high-profile signing to lead the line, and Daka could be available for a bargain price this summer.

Daka reportedly has a release clause of just £17 million on his contract.

However, West Ham United have also been linked with the marksman, but he has snubbed the opportunity to join them.
