According to reports, Chelsea Pre-season Game is in full swing and are ready to compete for Trophies both in English premier league and Champions league.

They are prepared to face Drogheda in a close door friendly to Keep them fit. Chelsea are set to face Irish outfit Drogheda United in a pre-season friendly on Thursday afternoon, football london understands.

Thomas Tuchel’s men have flown to Ireland as they step up their preparations ahead of the 2021/22 season.

It was expected that the Blues were set to face a local side in a friendly match, with the opponent and location of the match previously remaining undisclosed.

However, according to football london understands that reigning European champions Chelsea will take on Drogheda United at their current training location just outside of Dublin. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:30pm, with the match itself set to take place behind closed doors.

Drogheda are currently managed by former Millwall defender Tim Clancy and are currently in the midst of their first campaign back in the League of Ireland Premier Division having earned promotion last season.

As it stands, they currently sit fifth in the ten-team table, having won eight of their 21 matches so far in the league.

Whilst not the most glamorous of opponents, the run-out will give Thomas Tuchel another opportunity to see his squad in action. The Blues dismissed League One side Peterborough United 6-1 at Cobham last week in another behind-closed-doors friendly, with Hakim Ziyech securing himself a hat-trick.

The Chelsea squad for the trip to Ireland has already been announced with a combination of established first-teamers, youth prospects and fringe players having all made the trip.

N’Golo Kante, Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Antonio Rudiger and Mateo Kovacic are all expected to return to Chelsea training this week following their exploits at Euro 2020 but football london understands that none of those are part of the travelling party to Ireland, so will not take part versus Drogheda United
