Real Madrid ready to sell €50million player to Chelsea after signing Rudiger
Real Madrid, the Spanish and European champions, are willing to move left-back Ferland Mendy to Chelsea this summer, according to a report from Spanish news outlet AS via Sports Mole.
After helping them win the Spanish La Liga and the Champions League, Chelsea has been told they can sign the left-back for €50 million this summer.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is said to want Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao to be his first-choice centre-back partnership following Rudiger’s free transfer from Chelsea.
David Alaba, who spent last season with Militao as a centre-back, will move to left-back, where he has spent the majority of his professional career.
Real Madrid are still open to selling Mendy despite losing left-back Marcelo this summer. They reportedly need to cut their wage budget.
Since joining Real Madrid from Lyon, Mendy has made 105 appearances for the club, scoring five goals and assisting on nine occasions.
He appeared on 22 occasions in Real Madrid’s 2021-22 La Liga title-winning season, scoring two goals and assisting on two others.
Mendy’s Real contract is still three years old, having signed a six-year agreement with the Spanish club when he arrived from Lyon in July 2019.
Meanwhile, Okdiario’s chief pundit Eduardo Inda has given an update on Mendy’s Real Madrid future.
Speaking on El Chiringuito, Inda said: “Real Madrid wants to sell the player.
“The footballer has asked for a salary increase and Madrid does not want to give it to him under any circumstances. He asks for €5.5 million net per season.
“Madrid has told him no and that if he wants to earn that he will have to look elsewhere. Madrid has told him to bring a €50m offer.”
Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are also interested in the player.
